I know what it is like to
come home in the evenings and have no idea what to eat for dinner, much
less have the energy to prepare it. In addition to being a personal
chef, I'm also an attorney licensed in both Texas and Louisiana! After
three years of big firm practice I decided that I didn't want to spend
the rest of my life practicing law, but I wasn't sure what I wanted to
do.
During the year that I was looking for a career change, I started
spending most of my free time cooking and baking for my friends and
coworkers. I found cooking and baking much more enjoyable than reading
statutes and regulations all day long. Before long my friends were
asking me why I was wasting my time practicing law! I knew I had to find
a way to use my love of food and cooking, and my personal chef business
is giving me that.
I grew up in Baton Rouge with parents who were true "foodies." For as
long as I can remember they have been members of a monthly gourmet
group, and each month I looked forward to seeing (and tasting) the menu
selections. I still remember the tastes of their Moroccan themed meal,
as well as the time their mystery writer-themed dinner was featured in
the food section of the local paper. My parents grew up in New Orleans,
which allowed them to also know good food from an early age, and we were
regularly treated to the family's Italian and French recipes, intermixed
with the traditional Cajun and Creole dishes that no Louisianian can
live without. I spent much of my time in the kitchen learning to make
the dishes that I love. My great-grandfather owned a bakery in New
Orleans, and I am convinced that this is where my love of baking comes
from.
I want to share my love of food with those people who recognize the
importance of a good home-cooked meal, but have other things to do
besides plan meals, shop and cook.
